A message from Music On The Move (M.O.M.) creator, Caron Dale

Is there anything much better than seeing the sparkle in children's eyes when they're having fun? As a performer, I always try to make each event unique and memorable. As an early childhood music specialist, my goal is always to spark their instinctive talents and get them to participate. I am committed to creating a musical environment that will enrich, motivate and excite.

Caron captivates the musician in everyone, whether you're 12 months or 120 years. The 4-year-olds at our daughter’s party were dancing, singing, and toe-tapping for 40 minutes straight, without a single distraction. Caron’s a fabulous singer and entertainer, but more importantly she's a gifted teacher.

"Happy Birthday to my Sweet One ~ Happy Birthday to You"

Give your child the gift of joy and music with a fun, upbeat Musical Birthday Party (for ages 1-8.)

Our parties are fun, interactive and memorable. And "Teacher Caron" features her own songs as well as childhood flavorites. We'll have such a good time at your child's birthday party doing some combination of:

  • Sing-a-long with her guitar
  • Playing a treasure chest of rhythm instruments
  • Experiencing "singing books"
  • Marching and dancing
  • Making puppets sing
  • Shaking our sillies out
  • Musical games for older children and more!!!

Classes & Private Lessons

  • Musical Prelude is designed for children 10-32 months with an adult. I introduce the children to the joys of music, movement, rhythm instruments, finger play and more. Music is a joy for every girl and boy!
  • Musical Discovery is designed for ages 3 and young 4's without adult accompaniment. Through movement, listening to music and "singing books," playing rhythm instruments, use of puppets and vocalizing, we begin to discover how music is organized.
  • Musical Ignition Key is designed for 5 and 6 year olds. Through reading, movement, rhythm, music cards, vocalization, interpretive listening, and more, this class can turn the key on actual musical study. A keyboard at home is required.
  • Private and Semi-Private Piano and Guitar Lessons are offered both to children, and adults new to these instruments or returning after a long hiatus. Small group piano classes are also available to our younger learners. We apply basic music theory to an introduction of piano.

The Fall 2010 schedule will be posted in late August.

Our philosophy

Music on the move

Using children's natural curiosity, we can ignite their imaginations through music while improving listening, memory, coordination, language and concentration skills. This increases a child's sense of joy and self confidence. M.O.M.'s programs are wonderful opportunities for every child, teacher and parent to participate, learn and have lots of fun! Don't you want your children’s musical experiences to come from M.O.M.?!

M.O.M.’s programs interweave:

  • interactive singing
  • experimenting with rhythm
  • joyful dance & movement
  • introduction to orchestral instruments
  • delightful storytelling
  • diverse cultural experiences
  • dynamic puppets
  • engaging dramatics
  • lots and lots of participation

Scientists and educators recognize the importance of early, positive musical experiences on children. Patterns and repetition are skills needed for reading and listening and are included in the many diverse activities we offer.

Think about it. Mothers around the world sing lullabies to their babies. Children naturally bring music into their games. We're even playing music to children while in the womb.

First of all, let me say that Lucas is really enjoying his music class this session. We've made a big leap from "I don't think I wanna go to music class" to "oh goodie, today we have music class!" Thank you. And in the spirit of thanks, Lucas has been singing a nice tune (he really can carry a tune a cappella) with the refrain "we are thankful, we are thankful." I love this!         - Laurie

We can come to you!

Whether performing singly or with others, whether introducing American music or performance from other cultures, M.O.M. will come to you in four ways:

Children's Workshops: once a week, once a month, seasonally or individually

School Performances: interactive, educational, thematic and fun

Family Concerts at Libraries, Museums and more: exciting, uplifting, musical voyages for the entire family

Birthday parties: Consider a fun, upbeat Musical Birthday Party for your child, age 2-8.

All of Caron's performances include some combination of:

  • Sing-a-long with her guitar
  • A treasure chest of rhythm instruments
  • Singing books
  • Marching and dancing
  • Fun with puppets
  • Meet the Composer game for older children
  • Meet the Woodwinds and Meet the Strings
  • and more!!!

We we born with the gift of music in our souls. When children sing, they clap hands, dance, sway and light up. Their bodies instinctively move to the rhythm they feel. Their energy, creativity and curiosity are abundant and ready to be tapped

We are committed to creating a musical environment that will enrich, motivate and excite each participant.
